The F-2 is a Japanese Air Self-Defense Force fighter.As a support fighter to succeed the F-1, it was developed based on the American F-16 with various improvements.The development of the F-2 involved political issues with the United States stemming from trade friction between Japan and the United States at the time.It moved to Japan-U.S. joint development.The US produced only the rear fuselage and left wing.
